Innovative solutions for Integration of refugees and support of vulnerable populations Through Inclusion Activities and Language support

Refugees and migrants often face significant barriers to employment, intensifying their already vulnerable situation. As highlighted in the UNHCR report on citizen hosting for displaced persons from Ukraine, the language barrier is a major obstacle to accessing employment, even in high-demand sectors. Overcoming this linguistic hurdle is paramount to facilitating displaced persons from Ukraine and refugees in securing employment, as well as accessing vital social and care services. Our proposed project tackles this challenge head-on by providing refugees with comprehensive social and linguistic support, by adopting a more holistic approach to facilitating their journey toward employment.
Drawing on innovative programs that have already been tested on a small scale by the Danish Red Cross (DRC), the French Red Cross (FRC), and Croix-Rouge insertion (CRI), our project aims to merge social and linguistic assistance for refugees. Through the utilisation of an online platform and volunteer assistance, we aim to amplify our impact and empower civil society to actively contribute to refugee integration. Furthermore, this project will foster mutual learning among national societies and cultivate collaborative endeavours between Red Cross personnel and external stakeholders to ensure the project’s successful implementation.
Aligned with the objectives outlined in the call, our initiative focuses on integrating refugees fleeing Ukraine while fostering knowledge exchange among Red Cross societies. It fosters a comprehensive approach to refugee support, integrating language learning with employment coaching and social inclusion, thereby improving the overall status quo for displaced persons from Ukraine and other refugees.
